The market economy is unstable, so there are such phenomena as unemployment, rise in prices and inflation. Unemployment is a macro-economic problem that affects every person. Job loss leads to a reduction of the living standard of causing psychological trauma.

Рыночная экономика отличается нестабильностью, поэтому имеют место такие явления, как безработица, повышение цен, инфляция. Безработица – это макроэкономическая проблема, которая затрагивает каждого человека. Потеря работы приводит к снижению уровня жизни человека и его семьи, наносит ему психологическую травму.

Unemployment is the lack of job and opportunity to find it. That is, the unemployed is an active capable person who strives to get a job, physically has the opportunity to work, but does not have any.

In order to calculate the number of the unemployed in the country, the population is divided into several groups depending on the degree of labor activity. The first group includes the economically inactive population. who are not considered the labor force: high school students and full-time university students, pensioners, housewives, women on maternity leave.

Structural unemployment is a result of structural changes in the economy. The development of science and technology leads to the disappearance of some sectors of production and services, and the emergence of the others. By and by, the demand for a particular kind of products changes in the country. New demanded professions appear.

Cyclical unemployment is associated with reduction of the production scale. The increase of its level actually means the economic downturn in the country and leads to a backlog of GNP comparing to its size applied in the state budget for the current year.

Unemployment has serious consequences, both for the state and for the person left without a source of income. A person experiencing financial difficulties due to the job loss is exposed to the stress, various diseases; there may be disagreements . Lack of money pushes some people to committing a crime.

Currently, there is a trend of unemployment rising in Western Europe, especially among young people. Job loss at a young age inflicts considerable psychological "wounds" and reduces the chances of the young specialist to find a well-deserved job in the future. In Europe there is also a growing number of the long-term unemployed, i.e. people who are out of work for more than a year.

It is not a secret that today more than 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 a day. Poverty has become global and it causes wars, crimes, violence, and deaths. It causes a situation when 1 child dies every 4 seconds because of lack of food or poor medical treatment. Despite the fact that poverty is treated today as something natural, we state that it is totally inhuman and unethical.

The main principles of ethics state that human dignity is the main value; its basic foundation is that all people have certain rights they cannot be deprived of. The rights for life, dignity and happiness belong to the most essential ones. It goes without saying that poverty deprives people of their rights and that is why it is unethical.

Of course, we are far from an idealistic idea that the entire world should enjoy an equal distribution of food, wealth and recourses. It is quite obvious that some countries are richer than the others and it cannot be changed, but the most important thing is that the rich countries should not dump their problems on the poor ones. The problem of climatic changes caused by carbon emissions is one of the brightest examples of disparity.

Industrial countries cause dangerous emissions but do not want to participate in solving economic problems of such countries as Haiti that has become a constant victim of storms and hurricanes, and one of the poorest countries in the world. Furthermore, rich countries are not willing to reduce the level of fossil fuels consumption and in this way to slow down climatic changes that cause natural disasters and lead to poverty. We believe that this attitude should be changed since it deprives people of their rights and degrades their dignity, and that is why it is absolutely unethical.

Это не секрет, что сегодня более чем 3 миллиарда человек живут менее чем на $ 2,50 в день. Бедность приобрела глобальный характер, и это вызывает войны, преступления, насилие и смерть. Globalization is a controversial issue for business and governments throughout the world. We recognize globalization mainly through its effects. It"s a bit like electricity - we can not see it, but we certainly observe what it does.

Globalization can be described as a process by which the people of the world are unified into a single society and function together. This process is a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural and political forces. It"s a movement of people, goods, capital and ideas due to increased economic integration.

Globalization is a controversial issue mainly because different groups interpret it in different ways. For its opponents globalization is a threatening word. It prompts visions of large multinationals dominating the world in pursuit of ever-higher profits. Many pressure groups fear that globalization threatens the environment as well as national cultures - they predict that it will make the rich nations richer and the developing countries even poorer than they are. But its supporters have another point of view. They believe that increasing and freer trade between nations will offer prosperity and economic growth for all countries and businesses.

So globalization is likely to be a hot potato for the twenty-first century. As far as the benefits are concerned there it"s possible to name next statements:

1. An opportunity to get acquainted with cultures of different nations;

2. A variety of choice for consumers: when they can buy in their local stores and supermarkets not only home-produced goods but also foreign ones;

3. Transnational corporations create additional work places for local people, at the same it is convenient for these large corporations as well: they may locate the labour-intensive part of their production process in countries with a relative abundance of labour in order to minimize their costs;

4. Another point is risk-sharing. It"s more reasonable to invest money not in one company but to create an international company with great amount of subsidiaries in various countries, so it won"t have so serious consequences if one of them will not stand cut-throat competition;

5. This cut-throat competition in the local markets between domestic and foreign producers leads to production of high-quality goods.

The disadvantages of globalization are:

1. Pollution of the environment (and there one peculiarity should be admitted - developed countries try to locate their harmful for the environment factories and works not in their own countries but in developing countries);

2. Globalization destroys cultural identity, for example Europeans usually try to impose their customs and traditions on Asian people;

3. Multinational corporations prefer to use cheap labour-force of developing countries for instance in Asia. And at the same time they provide their workers with bad and sometimes even awful working conditions;

4. It"s difficult for domestic producers to compete with multinational corporations especially if it"s an infant industry;

The last but not least is that we don"t actually know to what globalization can lead, we don"t realize its consequences.

Social Problems of the Russian Society

As it is known, there is no an ideal society, it is utopia. Every society has its problems and weak points. The Russian one is not an exception.

Unfortunately, our country’s development was always unstable and erratical. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian economy found it unable to enter the world’s economy though the necessity in intergovernmental relationship and the transition to the market economy following the example of highly-developed countries was evident.

First of all it is the people of our country who suffered from the damage as immense sums weredirected to the elaborating of a new economic mechanism and the government decided to limit social expenses. And the first social problem countries try to overcome we can divide as a consequence of this fact, and it is demographic crisis. People have no sufficient means to have large families. The found issue was the following, - it is better to have one child and to raise him in relative prosperity, than to have some children and to raise them having no sufficient means and food products. The government turns its attention to this problem. It begins to adopt different federal target programmes such as “Children of Russia”, the duration of which was marked for the period of 2007-2010. At that time the mothers giving birth to the second or to the third or to the next following child receive the Mother`s Certificate has increased in size as it passed with the birth allowance. And indeed these measures helped, the birth rate has increased.

But the death rate is also rather high in our country. Naturally, it is provoked by the general level of living as well as by the ecology condition, and by addictions. The state carries different federal laws into effect which ban noxious emissions and bind the factories to be equipped with cleaning filters. The state tries to fight the citizens’ bad habits. For instance, today all tobacco enterprises have to indicate the slogans about the harm of tobacco use, and its awful consequences. Another measure to fight smoking was contained in increasing of the VAT rate and excise tobacco tax.

One of the most important problems related to the world economical crisis is unemployment. To solve this problem a special anti-crisis fund was created, for the financing the banks were given noninterest earning loans. Persons who have lost their jobs received a chance to start an own business, the employment centers pay lump-sum allowances to every registered unemployed citizen until he finds a new job. The micro-entrepreneurship is also actively supported.

The last but not the least is the problem of our system of education. It lacks teaching personnel, educational level in schools is low enough and some other problems. Country schools suffering from the teachers’ lack have no at all some disciplines, or these subjects are taught by the personnel having little competence for this. Besides, the remuneration of school teachers is low enough. The Russian education practically has not value abroad. Despite of all difficulties the Russian system of education changes too, and different educational reforms are initiated such as Unified State Examination.

In conclusion it should be mentioned that many social and economic mechanisms of our state are far from its efficiency. We have many other problems to solve within perhaps some decades. But the first positive steps towards the citizens’ lives improvement are evident.

Как известно идеальное общество - это утопия, в жизни каждого найдутся проблемы и слабые места. Российское общество не исключение.

К сожалению, развитие нашей страны всегда шло не стабильно и неравномерно. После распада СССР экономика России оказалась неспособной к интегрированию в мировую экономику, хотя стояла необходимость в поддержании межгосударственных связей, переходить к рыночной экономике по примеру развитых стран.

В первую очередь пострадало население нашей страны, так как большая часть средств была направлена на создание нового механизма экономики, а на население государство решило сократить свои расходы. Отсюда можно выделить первую социальную проблему, с которой пытаются бороться различными методами и по сей день, - демографический кризис. Люди не располагали достаточным количеством средств для того, чтобы содержать большую семью. Выход нашли такой - лучше иметь одного ребёнка, но чтобы он рос более-менее в достатке, чем несколько детей будут расти в бедности, и голоде. Государство не оставляет без внимания эту проблему. Разрабатываются и принимаются различные федеральные целевые программы, как например «Дети России», сроки действия которой были определены 2007-2010 годами. Для матерей, родивших второго или более ребенка - материнский сертификат увеличился в размере, также как и единовременное пособие при рождении ребенка. Действительно, в какой-то степени эти мероприятия помогли, рождаемость начала увеличиваться.

Но и смертность в нашей стране достаточно высокая. Конечно, на это влияют и общий уровень нашей жизни, и состояние экологии, и пагубные привычки. Государство применяет различные федеральные законы о запрете вредных выбросов, об обязательном строении на заводах очищающих фильтров. Даже с вредными привычками граждан правительство пытается бороться. Например, сейчас все фирмы, выпускающие табачную продукцию, обязаны указывать на пачках с сигаретами лозунги о вреде курения, о его страшных последствиях. Так же ещё одна мера в борьбе с курением - повышение ставок НДС и акцизов на табак.

Одна из главных проблем, связанная с мировым экономическим кризисом - безработица. Для борьбы с этой проблемой был создан специальный антикризисный фонд, банкам для кредитования предоставили беспроцентные кредиты. Для людей, потерявшим работу, была предоставлена возможность открывать свое дело, единовременно выплачиваются деньги от центра занятости, которые каждый зарегистрированный безработный получает каждый месяц пока не найдет новое место работы. Так же ведется активная поддержка малого предпринимательства.

Так же хотелось бы отметить как не последнюю проблему образования. Нехватка в преподавательских кадрах, низкий уровень знаний у школьников и некоторые другие. В сельских школах, где недостаточно преподавателей, некоторые предметы либо вообще не ведутся, либо его преподает учитель, ведущий совсем другой предмет. Кроме того, заработная плата школьных учителей достаточно низкая. Образование, полученное в России, практически не ценится за границей. У нас в стране совсем немного таких ученых заведений, после которых вас с радостью примут на ту же специальность в заграничных странах. Несмотря ни на что, и в сфере образования делается всё возможное, разрабатываются различные образовательные реформы, как например ЕГЭ.

В заключении хотелось бы отметить, что многие социальные и экономические механизмы нашего государства далеко не совершенны. У нас ещё много других проблем, которые предстоит решать ни одно десятилетие. Но принимаются первые, уверенные, твердые шаги на пути к улучшению жизни граждан.
